What is World Food Day?

In order to commemorate the date of the founding of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization in 1945, every year, October 16 is celebrated worldwide as World Food Day. Several organizations in the world like private companies, civil societies, governments, youth communities, etc., organize several campaigns during the month of October to raise awareness against poverty, eliminate hunger, and address food insecurity. Every year, there has been a new theme for the day and this year's theme is "Our actions are our future."

Mitsubishi's partnership with Food Banks Canada

Over 1 million Canadian visit food banks on a monthly basis in Canada. Food Banks Canada's purpose is to work at a community level to eliminate/reduce hunger for the underprivileged in the country. They aim to maximize collective impact and to reduce the needs of such local food banks.

Mitsubishi Motors is Driving Change

Through its initiative with Food Banks Canada, Mitsubishi Motors is aiming to directly impact local communities by creating awareness, organizing fundraising campaigns, and collectively working towards the ultimate goal of eliminating food insecurity. Mitsubishi Motors in Canada is driving change by:

• Launching a campaign to raise awareness for World Food Day and Food Banks Canada
• Monetary donations or sending food to local food banks by dealerships
• An additional $100,000 will be donated by the Corporate Headquarters to support Food Banks
